"The longest continous visual fx shot..."

Redboat produced and vfx-supervised "the longest continous visual effects shot in an Australian short-film"
~ IF Magazine, 2008

The complex multi-pass continous tracking crane visual-fx shot runs for 1 minute and 43 seconds, and features in the multi-award-winning 'Last Night", directed by Ed Parks with DOP Anthony Jennings.

To prepare the set design, program the motion control-rig and plan the shot, 3d previsualisation and camera planning was done using Maya 3d software. It was shot on 35mm in 5 passes using a motion control rig at Carnival Studios. Visual effects include sky, sea and moon background, keying, a heap of rotoscoping, smoke, fire, computer generated telegraph pole, shattered windscreen, car roof and head-rests, rear windscreen and additional set elements of grass, shrubs and rocks to cover up the motion control rig rails.

Redboat's film 3D & VFX pipline, includes Maya, rendering with Vray and compositing with Nuke, using film industry standard EXR image format throughout to ensure the highest possible colour depth and flexibility.

We're keen to do more film visual-fx, so get in touch to find out how we can work together.

"Redboat helped us to create an online animation for interested parties to lean about Marine Zoning. We had a short turnaround time and very specific requirements, which did change at our end during the course of the project. The team at Redboat were wonderful. They offered suggestions to improve the process along the way, never seemed phased by last minute changes and were generally a pleasure to work with. We were thrilled with the end product. Iā€™d highly recommend their services. "

Vivienne Sykes, Brand and Content Manager - Parks Australia
Department of the Environment and Energy

"We used Redboat to tell a complex story in a short animation. We were completely happy both with the result ā€“ it make quite an impact at the time and is still being used successfully ā€“ and with the professional way in which Adrian interacted with the team in developing and fine-tuning the brief. I enthusiastically recommend his work generally and have done to others who might be looking for similar services."
